Drown – A to Z Challenge
Your desire and longings will drown you
The more corrupt heart and mind gets, your
Path towards destruction and delusion
Is guaranteed my son
Your eagerness to fulfilling a wish
Will drown you to God’s temple and branches
Expecting a greener pasture
All the while wrongly concentrating on efforts that err
One wink and the whole soul
Drowns to sweetheart’s cajole
O dear, then what’s the difference, between pain and joy
When you are going to drown at some point in time?
This post is written as a part of A to Z Challenge in association with Blogchatter.
Great poem. Loved the way you expressed it. You are right. Experience the joy and pain, after all, it is the life.
Thank you so much, Vasantha. Yes, we need to experience the pain and joy that life gives us.
Wonderful poem. Our desires lead us to expectations that in turn turn to disappointment. Do drop by at https://wp.me/p7srVp-vo
You have rightly summed it up, Sudha. Glad that you enjoyed reading the poem.
I like the way you question the human conscience through this poem. Nicely done, Rohan 🙂
Thank you so much, Purba! I am glad that the poem strikes a chord. 🙂
Nice poem with a deep meaning in it. Do read my post on travel here http://saba-relishingrascal-scribbles.com/2018/04/03/darjeeling-the-drooling-beauty-of-india/
Thank you so much Saba!
I was nodding my head in agreement right from the first line! How blind we are to the effects our desires have an us! Why, oh why aren’t we contented with what we have? Why do we crave for what we see others possessing? And do we even know if the others are indeed as happy as we think they are?
I like such words that waken the conscience and make us look deep within us.
Firstly. thank you so much, Shilpa, for writing out your mind. I absolutely agree with what you say. We are never satisfied with what we possess. We crave for more, want more and this leads us pretty sad unless we get what we want.
Thank you for dropping by, Shilpa. 🙂
I am confused with reading this. Is one questing himself or alarming 🙂 !!

The poem is in general and questioning the way we are as humans.
Having an honest chat with our inner self is something that we need to do from time to time. Thought provoking expression, Rohan!

Absolutely agree with you, Shilpa. We need to have an honest chat with our inner self. I am glad that the poem touched the right chord with you.
So true, desire and longings will drown us. But do we stop doing either of the two! Nah! That’s man for you! Nice poem, Rohan! Do visit https://firsttimemommy.net/2018/04/01/a-girl-was-born/ for some dose of fiction.
You have nailed it with your comment, Anshu. Yea, that’s the man for all of us. 🙂

I am glad that you liked the poem, Natasha.
But that’s only human. Desires and longing doesn’t necessarily have to lead us to path to drown. But the efforts are to be rejoiced, taking in all in the journey. Speaks out in many levels. I re-read it wondering all the analogies you made, and much more meaning that the poem conveys to readers.
Thank you so much, Shweta, for a detailed comment. I am super happy that you found the poem to be meaningful enough to be read twice. 🙂
Both are equally needed as we need day and night
That’s also true, Snehalata, but eventually, we drown in them, don’t we?
Well, there’s a difference between drowning in joy and in sorrow. Of course, we need to be careful how we choose to live and ensure that our life is drowned in good people and habits so that we have a positive takeaway. Nice poem, Rohan.
I agree with you, Sreedeep. It is upon us to get drowned in good habits and with a positive mindset.
There is no joy without pain and vice-versa. The two are sides of the same coin. Great poem
