A Hope For People – A to Z Challenge
There was a hope in the eyes
For society and people in the sixties
Government threw gold and silver
Schemes sugar coated to appease
People’s eye was full of stars like
Lovers who are blind by the night
The perfume of jobs, growth, globalization
Was the scent people grew up to
There were no paints on the walls
But they were polished and shone
The government threw plenty of rainbows
And people grew decades into it
Now, the scent is flavored and sugar coated
With GDP, NPAs, and politically-motivated discourse
The walls stand marvelously painted exteriorly
The interior stands tarnished and dark
The perfume reeks of a set-up for
Votes, numbers, and ground to play
With people’s aspirations and hopes
As they lie in an earthly-scented wash of dust

Hi Rohan! This is the sad reality …I loved the way you depicted the situation so aptly in the poetry form.
Unfortunately, this is the reality. Not only in India, but most of the countries. Beautifully penned, Rrohan. I like the contrasting imagery you’ve brought forth in this.
Sad but true Rohan. Painful if indeed is to see this state of the country but a hope still keeps us going.
Hah – absolutely true. You’ve hit the nail on the head with your clever poem.
A true account of politics and power … its never about common people. Loved this line:
“The perfume of jobs, growth, globalization
Was the scent people grew up to”
Grim reality of our times. Wonder when it will change!
You seem to have woven the current political situation and its gaffes into this poem so beautifully! 🙂
P is for Princess Diaries #atozchallenge
You seemed to have explained the current situation so well. But I believe whichever govt. comes it will be the same. Because greed has no end, and all are greedy and corrupt.
Hi Rohan. Agree 100% with you. You have brought out the current state of India beautifully in poetic form. Be careful. Bhakts won’t agree. 🙂
